A new and exciting route where we will see two important archaeological rests of the south of Peru , combining an extreme trekking adventure with the imposing historical legacy of the Incas. In this trek, we will pass by Choquequirao, the refuge of the last Incas, until arriving to citadel of Machupicchu, along the way we will observe a diversity of flora, fauna and challenging landscapes; we will go through different climates and altitudes and we will need good physical training and guides with experience to make our journey a experience that will stay with you forever! Day 1: Cusco - Cachora - Playa Rosalina

In the morning, we will gather our passengers to board private transport and go toward Cachora, where the last arrangements for our trek will be coordinated. We will undertake the route until Chuquisaca where we will begin the ascent until the pass of Capuliyoc with impressive views of Apurímac canyon. Finally, we will descend to Rosalina Beach (1150 masl), on the shores of Apurímac river, the location of our camping spot.

Day 02: Playa Rosalina - Choquequirao

Early in the morning, we will continue the trek, going up different hills, through long and narrow footpaths; we will arrive at Choquequirao after 16 hours approximately. We will visit this archaeological site with our guide and will be able to appreciate spectacular landscapes from this precinct; it will be possible also to see some condors flying over the mountains. Camping (3050 masl approx.)

Day 03: Choquequirao – Maizal

We will start the day ascending until the 3300 masl, later we will descend until Blanco River at an altitude of 1900 masl. In this passage we will observe the archaeological site of Pinchinuyoc, appreciating different species such as birds, orchids and coca leaf local plantations. In the evening, we will ascend again, for almost 3 hours, until Maizal to 3.000 masl approximately, the site of our camping.

Day 04: Maizal – Yanama

During the morning, we will undertake the long walk (trek) again, passing by impressive Inca mines called Victoria . We will exceed 4150 masl crossing inka trails of stone, later we will descent until 3800 masl to encamp.

Day 05: Yanama - Totora

Early in the morning, we will start the long walk, ascending slowly, until 4670 masl, the highest Andean pass in all our passage. This scene will defy your imagination as you appreciate some white high peaks such as Sacsarayoc and Padreyoc. Later, we will descend to camp (3.630 masl)

Day 06: Totora – Playa

This day, we will descend until Totora River . During the journey we will observe flora and fauna changing and becoming more interesting, with hummingbirds , woodpeckers and different species of orchids and begonias, until arriving at the 2112 masl for the camping.

Day 07: Playa - Aguas Calientes

During the morning, we will walk for around 3 hours until arriving to the last passage of the route, at 2810 masl. From this place we will be able to observe from a distance the lost city of the Incas, Machupicchu. After a brief rest, we descend towards the hydroelectric power station on Urubamba river and depending on time, we will walk or take the local train towards Aguas calientes town. Day 08: Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast, and a guided tour by the archaeological site of Machu Picchu , there will be free time to climb, on your own, the Wayna Picchu Mountain . In the evening we will return to Aguas Calientes to board the train toward Cusco (approximately 4 hours), arriving at Cusco around 20:00 hours.

This great route allows you to visit the Choquequirao citadel, known as the “Cradle of gold” and it was one of the last refuges of the Incas. Also, you will enjoy natural scenes and beautiful landscapes which defy the imagination of any adventure lover.

 

Day 1: Cusco - Cachora – Chaquisqa

Early in the morning, transfer from the hotel to Cachora Town; along the way it is possible to observe typical towns and archaeological rest such as Tarawasi, an Inca ceremonial centre.

We start the trek from Cachora on a footpath to Capuliyoc at 9186 feet , where we will have a lunch. Later we will go to the town of Chaquisqa ( 6332 feet ) surrounded by natural beauty and cosy climates where we will have a dinner and the first camping stop.

Day 2: Chaquisqa – Playa Rosalina – Sunchupata:

Very early in the morning, we continue the long walk, we will go to Rosalina beach ( 5085 feet ) and we will ascend a slope to Santa Rosa village ( 6890 feet ) this part of the trekking is the hardest; we will stop to have our lunch and to take a break.

We will follow the ascent until Maranpata ( 9351 feet ) where is possible to observe the dense vegetation of the place as well as the path travelled the previous day. Then, we go to Sunchupata to have dinner and camping.

Day 3: Sunchupata – Choquequirao – Chaquisqa

Very early in the morning, after a brief trekking, we arrive to Choquequirao; on this place we will observe the fantastic dawn and we will have a guided tour around the citadel. Afterwards, we return to Santa Rosa village to lunch. We continue the route until Playa Rosalina and then Chaquisqa town where we will camp.

Día 4: Chaquisqa – Capuliyoc – Cachora – Cusco

After breakfast, we will return by the same way until Cachora town, arriving approximately at noon . In the afternoon, transfer to the hot springs of Qonoq where we will stay for one hour. We will return to Cusco city arriving approximately at the 20:00 hours.
